dynamic national-level non-Governmental Organization (NGO), igniting the
flames of education and community development across Tanzania. As a
formidable umbrella organization, KTO unites the 55 Folk Development
Colleges (FDCs) throughout the country, transforming them into beacons
of progress and empowerment.

Established in 1990s through a
powerful collaboration between Tanzanian Folk Development Colleges
(FDCs) and Swedish Folk high schools, KTO embodies the spirit of global
solidarity. We proudly serve as a catalyst for change, connecting
Principals, other staff members, participants and local communities in
and around who form the majority of our passionate members.

Through
close cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, and
Technology (MoEST), other related Ministries, and esteemed national and
international partners, our nationwide network enables us to reach out

Position Overview:
As
a Media Specialist Intern, you will support the media and
communications team by creating engaging content across multiple digital
platforms. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on
experience in media production, digital marketing, and communications
while contributing to a dynamic and impactful organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating and curating content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.).
  • Support the production of videos, photos, and other visual content for marketing and promotional materials.
  • Write and edit blog posts, articles, and social media captions.
  • Help manage the organization’s social media accounts and engage with followers.
  • Assist in developing media campaigns to increase brand awareness and engagement.
  • Collaborate on the creation of newsletters, press releases, and other written communications.
  • Monitor media coverage and track the performance of digital campaigns.
  • Contribute to the development of the organization’s media strategy.
  • Perform other media-related tasks as needed.

Requirements:

  • Currently
    enrolled in or a recent graduate of a relevant degree program (e.g.,
    Media Studies, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field).
  • Strong interest in social media management, digital marketing, and content creation.
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms and tools (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Canva).
  • Basic knowledge of photo and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, or Canva).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Kiswahili is a plus.
  • Strong creative, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A keen eye for detail and visual aesthetics.

Job Type: Internship

Key Responsibilities:

Program Support & Coordination: 

  • Assist in planning, implementing, and monitoring KTO projects to ensure they align with organizational goals.
  • Support the organization of meetings, workshops, and training sessions for project stakeholders.
  • Assist in coordinating activities with Folk Development Colleges (FDCs) and partner organizations.

Monitoring & Reporting: 

  • Support data collection and documentation of project activities, outcomes, and challenges.
  • Assist in preparing progress reports, presentations, and donor updates.
  • Contribute to tracking program indicators and ensuring timely reporting.

Administrative & Logistical Support: 

  • Help with scheduling, preparing materials, and organizing logistics for program-related events.
  • Maintain organized records of program activities, participant data, and correspondence.

Visibility & Communication: 

  • Support social media and communication efforts to enhance program visibility.
  • Assist in preparing articles, newsletters, and success stories to showcase program impact.

Other Duties: 

  • Support the KTO team with additional tasks to enhance program implementation and organizational learning.

Requirements:

  • Education: Minimum of a diploma in Adult and Continuing Education or a bachelor’s degree in
  • Education,
    Community Development, International Relations, International
    Development, Political Science, or a related field. Interest &
    Commitment: Strong passion for folk and adult education, Folk
    Development Colleges (FDCs), and community development.
  • Learning Attitude: Eagerness to learn, adapt, and gain hands-on experience in program implementation.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written skills in English and Swahili.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Technology Proficiency: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and digital communication tools.
  • Flexibility & Initiative: Willingness to travel, engage in fieldwork, and take initiative in program activities.
