Vacancy Title: Legal and Compliance Associate
Job Title: Job Summary:
The
Legal & Compliance Associate is responsible for ensuring that the
company adheres to all legal and regulatory requirements in Tanzania.
This role involves handling matters related to mergers and acquisitions,
corporate compliance under the Companies Act, immigration services,
permits and licenses, and general compliance with Tanzanian laws. The
ideal candidate should have a strong legal background, attention to
detail, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions
- Ensure company compliance with the Companies Act of Tanzania and other relevant corporate laws.
- Assist in company secretarial duties, including preparation of board resolutions, minutes, and annual filings.
- Handle immigration matters, including obtaining work permits, residence permits, and visas for expatriate employees.
- Ensure compliance with immigration laws and policies in Tanzania
- Identify and secure necessary business licenses and operational permits
- Conduct legal risk assessments and provide guidance on compliance matters.
- Develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, and training programs

Education Requirements & Job Experience Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized institution; a Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania.
- Minimum of [TWO] years of experience in corporate legal practice, compliance, or a related field.
- Experience handling mergers & acquisitions, corporate compliance, and immigration services in Tanzania.
- Strong understanding of Tanzanian corporate, labor, and regulatory laws.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Legal and Compliance Intern
Job Title: Legal and Compliance Intern
Job Summary:
The
Legal Compliance Intern will support the company in ensuring adherence
to Tanzanian laws and regulations, including compliance with the
Companies Act, immigration services, and the acquisition of various
permits and licenses. The intern will also be responsible for following
up with government authorities on submitted applications and assisting
with legal documentation and compliance processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow up with government authorities (e.g., Business Registration and Licensing Agency – BRELA, Tanzania Revenue
- Authority – TRA, Immigration Department, Labor Office, etc.) on submitted applications.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with the Companies Act and other relevant corporate laws in Tanzania.
- Support in obtaining work permits, residence permits, business licenses, and other regulatory approvals.
- Conduct legal research on Tanzanian laws and regulations affecting company operations.
- Prepare and submit compliance reports and maintain proper records of legal documents.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and organizing legal documents and agreements.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations and update the management accordingly.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external legal advisors for compliance-related matters.
- Support in compliance audits and risk assessments as required
Education Requirements & Job Experience Qualifications
-  Bachelor’s degree (or final-year student) in Law, Business Law, or related field.
- Â Knowledge of Tanzanian corporate laws, immigration regulations, and compliance procedures.
- Â Experience or internship exposure with government authorities is an added advantage.
- Â Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Â Ability to work independently and follow up effectively with authorities.
- Â Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Â Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Â Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
