SportPesa Limited,
is a renowned local company operating as part of the Global SportPesa
brand, a leading brand in the industry of sports betting and online
casino with operations in more than six (6) countries in Europe and
Africa. SportPesa Limited is currently looking for a qualified and
energetic Tanzanian to fill in the position of a DevOps Manager.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Database Administrator
Department: IT
Reporting Line: Head of IT Duty Station: Dar es Salaam

Essential Function
Database
Administrator will be responsible for data analytics, manage and
maintain our database systems, ensuring their performance,
security, and reliability. Database Administrator will perform data
analytics tasks to support our data-driven decision-making processes and
collaborate with various departments to meet their data needs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design,install, configure, and maintain database systems.
• Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.
• Ensure database security by developing/enforcing policies, procedures, and controls.
• Backup and restore databases to prevent data loss.
• Optimize database systems for performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with Senior Database Administrators to optimize queries and database designs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Manage database access and permissions.
• Extract,transform, and load (ETL) data for analysis.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
• Develop and maintain data models, reports, and dashboards.
• Collaborate with various departments to understand their data needs and provide actionable insights.
• Perform data cleaning, preprocessing, and transformation. Design and conduct experiments to validate data-driven hypotheses.
• Visualize data and present findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, Data Analytics or a related field.
• Atleast 3 years experience as a Database Administrator.
• Experience in data analysis and data science methodologies.
• Proficiency in SQL and database management systems (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
• Experience with data science tools and programming languages (e.g. Python, R, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn).

Other Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent understanding of database design, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Proficient in data manipulation and analysis.
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
• Knowledge of big data technologies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Proactive and able to work independently.
• Strong commitment to data integrity and security.
