Overview
Lake Cement Ltd is a
specialist in cement manufacturing with a state-of-the-art fully
integrated cement plant, with a captive 10MW thermal power plant. Our
plant is located in the Kigamboni district of Dar es Salaam and has an
installed capacity of 600,000 MT per annum. We produce consistent high
quality cement for which we have leveraged best-in-class technologies
and extensive sectoral experience. We started production in 2014 under
the Nyati Cement brand.
Nyati Cementis now the leading cement brand not
only in Tanzania, but also has prominence in Rwanda, Burundi and other
neighboring countries.

Our integrated cement manufacturing
unit, spread in an area of over 100 hectares, is the most modern, fully
automated and energy-efficient plant of its kind in East Africa. The
Plant, with a capacity of 500,000 Tons per annum, is located at Kimbiji
village in Kigamboni District; just 45 km south of Dar es Salaam’s
central business district. In addition to being a profitable corporate

Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical Engineer at Lake Cement Ltd October 2024

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all types of maintenance work are carried out safely, always preceded by a risk assessment.
  • Plan and allocate daily maintenance tasks to employees and ensure all necessary resources are provided.
  • Ensure timely adherence to all recommended maintenance and lubrication schedules.
  • Manage the workforce on a day-to-day basis to execute both planned and unplanned mechanical maintenance tasks.
  • Inspect equipment during both operation and stopped conditions to identify abnormalities before they lead to breakdowns.
  • Respond
    to breakdowns as they occur, ensuring sufficient resources are utilized
    to restart equipment in the shortest time possible.
  • Plan for
    spares and sub-assemblies to ensure timely availability, and monitor
    stock levels. Initiate procurement in consultation with the HOD for
    timely replenishment.
  • Contribute to all major shutdown activities from the preparatory phase.
  • Ensure that all tasks are logged and completed through the ODOO ERP system.
  • Participate actively in skill development activities such as On-the-Job Training (OJT).

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the cement industry is desirable.
