Org. Setting and Reporting
This
position is located in the Archives and Records Section of the Registry
of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, Arusha
Branch. Under the supervision of the Digital Archivist, MARS Arusha, the
incumbent will be responsible for supporting the work of the Archivists
in the management of the records and archives management by the
International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals.
Responsibilities
• Undertake tasks related to the
preservation and accessibility of the ICTR audiovisual archives and
records managed by MARS Arusha. • Reviewing audiovisual judicial records
and applying the established redaction procedures to the review process
to ensure compliance with judicial orders and fully documenting the
redaction process. • Identifying the specific timecodes of confidential
information from the language versions of the digital copies of the
audiovisual records using digital audiovisual editing software and asset
management systems to create redacted versions of the audiovisual
records. • Working in close cooperation with the other Language
Specialists on the Audiovisual Redaction Team, ensuring the conformity
of the redactions made in all language channels of the audiovisual
recordings. • Quality control and editing out confidential information,
noise reduction and other approved signal enhancement processes using
audiovisual editing software to produce the redacted audiovisual
recordings. • Integrating the redacted audiovisual files into the
information management systems of MARS, and updating the metadata
accordingly. • Maintaining meticulous logs of all work completed and all
redactions made and ensuring the integrity of the digital files. •
Process consignments of transferred records, ensuring that they meet
required standards and are stored securely, under the direction of the
archivists. • Maintain records of records transfers. •
Retrieve/return/update records on request of client offices. • Assist
client offices with complex searches for records. • Implement Records
Retention Schedules and other disposition instructions. • Maintain the
Section’s repositories in good order. • Undertake environmental
monitoring checks. Monitor use of space. • Implement security controls. •
Maintain logs, registers and other records of repository management
activities. • Support the work of the archivists by assisting in the
development and implementation of policies and procedures for the
management of the Archives. • Assist with preparation and dissemination
of finding aids for archives. • Assist in the provision of access to
archives, and the provision of information and support to researchers.
Assist with preparation of presentation and publicity materials. •
Perform other duties as required.

Education
- High
school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional qualifications or
training in the fields of audiovisual production, editing, archives and
records management or a related field is desirable.

Job – Specific Qualification
Additional
qualifications or training in the fields of audiovisual production,
editing, archives and records management or a related field is
desirable.
Work Experience
Minimum of six (6) years
of progressively responsible experience in archives management, records
management, information management, audiovisual editing, recording or
production or related area is required. Experience in working with
records in both physical and digital format is desirable. Experience in
using digital audiovisual formats and professional audiovisual editing
software is desirable. Working experience in UN International Criminal
Tribunals is desirable. Experience of Electronic Document and Record
Management Systems (EDRMS) is desirable.
Languages
English
and French are the working languages of the Mechanism. For the post
advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Working
knowledge of French or Kinyarwanda is desirable.
Assessment
Selection will be based upon comparative analysis of the candidates.
