Org. Setting and Reporting
This
position is located in the Archives and Records Section of the Registry
of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, Arusha
Branch. Under the supervision of the Digital Archivist, MARS Arusha, the
incumbent will be responsible for supporting the work of the Archivists
in the management of the records and archives management by the
International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals.
Responsibilities
•
Support the implementation and administration of information technology
and management tools in the development and implementation of
recordkeeping improvement projects. • Support the development and
implementation of recordkeeping improvement projects. • Assist in the
administration of any information technology-based systems to maintain
the Section’s repositories in good order. • Undertake tasks related to
the accessioning, arrangement and description, storage, preservation and
conservation, and accessibility of the archives and records managed by
MARS Arusha. • Lead in creating Submission Information Packages (SIPs)
and precondition, where necessary, for ingest into the Mechanism Digital
Preservation System (DPS). • Lead the Ingest of digital records into
the Mechanism DPS. This includes identification, validation and creation
of fixity. • Participate in Monitoring file integrity through fixity
checking. • Participate in the Identification, development and
implementation of tools to support ingest of digital and audiovisual
(AV) records, and update existing tools as required. • Assist in the
development and implementation of the EDRMS in Mechanism Offices. •
Support offices in the preparation of transfer requests. • Arrange
transfers of records from client digital workspaces to the EDRMS. •
Process consignments of transferred digital records, ensuring that they
meet required standards and are stored securely, under the direction of
the Digital Archivist. • Maintain records of records transfers. •
Retrieve/return/update records on request of client offices. • Lead in
the development and delivery of training for users of the EDRMS. •
Assist client offices with complex searches for records in the EDRMS. •
Implement Records Retention Schedules and other disposition
instructions. • Support the work of the Archivists by assisting in the
development and implementation of policies and procedures for the
management of the Archives. • Assist with preparation and dissemination
of finding aids for archives. • Perform other duties as required.

Education
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Job – Specific Qualification
Technical
or vocational certificate or training in archives and records
management, information science, information systems or a related field
is required.
Work Experience
Minimum of eight (8)
years of progressively responsible experience in archives management,
records management, information management, information science,
information systems or related area is required. Experience of
Electronic Document and Record Management Systems (EDRMS) is desirable.
Experience of digital preservation systems and digital repositories is
desirable. Experience in working with records in both physical and
digital format is desirable. Experience of strict information security
regimes is desirable. Working experience in UN International Criminal
Tribunals (ICTR, ICTY or IRMCT) is desirable.
Languages
English
and French are the working languages of the Mechanism. For the post
advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Working
knowledge of French is desirable.
Assessment
Selection will be based upon comparative analysis of the candidates.
