Job Title: Mechanical Technician

Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Job Summary
The
Mechanical Technician will maintain all the mechanical equipment in the
power plant such as turbines, pumps, valves, gates, fans etc.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical maintenance and repair activities as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Identify
    and address equipment multifunction in mechanical equipment and
    systems, and recommend corrective actions, and on approval make repairs
    or facilities improvements under the supervision of Mechanical
    Maintenance Engineer.
  • Setup and operate machines tools to repair
    or reproduce machine parts and fittings, with reference to blueprints
    or detective parts.
  • Detect, analyze, propose, and implement modifications in the facilities that improve the maintainability of the plant.
  • Interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on equipment, deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others.
  • Carry out both installation repairs and planned preventive maintenance.
  • Report on levels of non-stock items to relevant Maintenance Engineer.
  • Report performance issues relating to mechanical services, and equipment to the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer.
  • Carry out safe isolation of mechanical equipment in case of emergencies.
  • Assist in the investigations of accidents and dangerous occurrences within the department.
  • Carry out all work in accordance with the applicable procedures, technical instructions, and safety standards.
  • Use all relevant tools, machinery, and equipment to comply with current Health and Safety legislation.
  • Fully understand all relevant general health and safety issues pertaining to the relevant to trade discipline.

Key Person Specifications/Experience/Skills:

  • At least 5 years of experience in mechanical and/or machine assembly, preferably in power generation
  • Diploma or Certificate in mechanical/engineering.
  • Advanced level of English, both written and spoken
  • Ability to work in a team and under
  • Display a high level of interpersonal skills including poise, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Able to work with little supervision and achieve superior results.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Possess a high level of integrity.
  • Excellent
    organizational skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced
    environment with multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities.
