The MSF Academy for Healthcare aims to professionalize the training of
health care workers in MSF projects. The need to improve the
competencies of the staff carrying out ambulatory consultations was
identified in the countries where MSF works as one of the main factors
that can bring improvements to the quality of the care provided.

The Outpatient Care Programme was developed to deliver the adequate
training content for improving the quality of outpatient care
consultations, but also to pilot this through innovative pedagogical
approaches to the frontline health workers in the primary level of care.

The curriculum is competency based and has been developed following the
syndromic approach adopted by WHO for primary care services which is
also in line with MSF and most of the National Guidelines. The training
includes didactic classroom sessions and bedside mentoring.
• Until
beginning of 2023 the OPD programme has been implemented in 4 countries,
7 MSF projects and 22 Health Centers with 237 learners and 129
graduates. Tanzania will be the 5th country in which the programme will
be roled out.

bordering with Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado. The recent conflict in that
neighbouring region has increased the humanitarian needs in Liwale where
access to health care is not yet equitable, and quality health services
are not yet provided in every ward. For this reason, MSF-OCG has
