Senior PMEAL Coordinator

The Senior PMEAL (Planning, Montoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning) Coordinator will be part of the Policy, Evidence and Fundraising team (KNOW) in ActionAid Denmark’s (AADK) international department. The KNOW team manages global advocacy programmes, communicate impact and learning and supports institutional fundraising. The Senior PMEAL Coordinator is one of two PMEAL positions, where a colleague is already placed in Zimbabwe.

As the Senior PMEAL Coordinator you will report to the Head of KNOW, while working closely with the MEL Specialist, AADK’s Programme Managers, staff in the international department, as well as colleagues in partner countries and ActionAid International (AAI). The tasks will include:

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Provide leadership for the development of theories of change, result frameworks and MEL systems for programmes across development and humanitarian contexts. Develop and support the effective application at global and programme level of MEL guidance and tools
  • Ensure that MEL frameworks at all levels ensure participation of the targeted right holders and that crosscutting priorities, such as localization and adaptive programming, are integrated in frameworks and aligned with CHS standards.
  • Spearhead the development and implementation of tools and approaches for documentation and presentation of results, learnings, and best practices hosted in the PMEAL framework for the international programme portfolio.
  • Coordinate the task management within the PMEAL-portfolio with relevant colleagues.
  • Provide guidance on theories of change and MEAL systems for project/programmes designs incl. for fundraising opportunities.
  • Coordinate & support PMEAL capacity strengthening of partners and AADK staff including designing key meetings, processes and trainings and selected country partnership visits.

Impact & Learning

  • Lead the development and implementation of the ‘evidence repository’ of AADK as well as develop models and tools for qualitative assessment and documentation of results, including via feminist and anti-racist story telling initiatives and donor engagement.
  • Design, coordinate and produce reviews, quality assessments (e.g. OH, VfM, Partnership Survey) and evidence pieces in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including commission of external reviews and evaluations and undertaking internally facilitated qualitative assessments.
  • Lead the exchange of experiences and learning loops across programmes and contexts including designing the necessary systems allowing for adaptive programming.

Your profile

You hold extensive experience (at least 7 years) of providing leadership, support, and guidance on design, monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems, tools, and processes from local to global level across development and humanitarian contexts; substantial documented experience and applied knowledge with data analysis, report writing and models for Value for Money, Outcome Harvesting and similar participatory methods for results documentation, effectiveness, and learning; experience of working effectively with local civil society partners and/or institutional donors at country-programme level across humanitarian and development contexts; fluent written and spoken English;

You are a confident facilitator and have process management skills sufficient to enable the spearheading of internal and external processes in a participatory manner – based on timely, strategic, and informed decisions in consultation with colleagues and management; You are able to keep a profound overview and strong coordination skills with a systematic and analytical approach to tasks and to providing technical advice; excellent communication and relationship skills is considered a distinct advantage as well as experience with youth-led and activist programming.

We offer

A fixed-term contract for a minimum of 4 years with 37 working hours/week and approximately 2 weeks of travel per year; duty-station in close proximity of AADK and in one of the AAI member offices i.e. Sweden, UK or the Netherlands or other; you must hold a valid work permit to the country; a comprehensive compensation package with an obligatory pension scheme; flexible working hours, so that a healthy balance between private- family- and work-life is possible.
